FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A tea mad design agency scooped one of the top prizes on Friday evening at the Somerset Business Awards. Runners up twice before, it was a case of third time lucky for Teapot Creative as they were awarded the title of 2016 ‘Somerset Business of the Year’ in the 11-25 employee category. Based at Bowdens Farm near Langport, they offer digital marketing, web, graphic & retail design services and all with their trademark approach of ‘Tea Fuelled Creativity’.
Now in it’s 12th year, the event organised by Somerset Chamber of Commerce aims to recognise and reward the county’s businesses across a range of categories covering everything from championing environmentalism to excellence in manufacturing and customer service. A 10 strong party of ‘Teapotters’ attended the black tie event held in Taunton’s Well Springs Leisure Centre and had a fantastic evening.
Graphic designers Barry Tottle and Lizzie Ginbey founded Teapot Creative in 2010 before joining forces with web design and digital marketing expert, Ade Lewis back in the Spring of 2012. Having made the finals twice before, they made the decision to have one more go. Describing the moment when they learnt they had won, Lizzie Ginbey said, “It was amazing! I could hardly believe my ears. The award is for the whole team who work so hard. Winning this has made us all incredibly proud.”
Over the past six years the company has built a strong local customer base whilst nurturing national and international clients all from their Bowdens Farm base. “Creativity comes easy when you’re hemmed in by fields, wildlife and farm animals” said director Barry Tottle. He went onto say that, “Being able to pop out for a cup of tea and slice of cake at the Brown & Forest Smokery café just a short walk away helps too!”
The original team of three is much bigger now. The twentieth employee, Dale Stevens, joined the company just two weeks ago as a junior web developer having finished university this summer. The graduate recruitment scheme hasn’t been the only success story as Teapot also has a vibrant apprentice programme in partnership with Strode College. This steady growth has meant that as well as having long since out grown their original tiny garage studio, they’re now in their third Bowdens Farm studio and earlier this year had to expand into the neighbouring unit to make space for all the desks!
Bagging the Somerset Business award is in the words of director and Head of Web, Ade Lewis, “The result of tremendous team work, fantastic clients and just possibly a little bit of luck as the competition was incredibly strong! All of the finalists prove how Somerset businesses are a force to be reckoned with and we’re thrilled to be one of them.”
For all of the winners and runners up go to the Somerset Businees Awards. If you’d like more information about Teapot Creative then please email them – email@example.com or telephone – 01460-281865.
