Barry was asked to revisit Eyetech, who he had designed some years ago that had undertaken major alterations in the interim. The rear of the practice had been radically altered to include a work space, two new consultation rooms, a staff area and a very long straight corridor which led straight from the retail space. The brief was to bring the corridor in to the flow of the space and to complement the existing scheme.
A nib wall was used to break up the very long featureless corridor and define the staff area. Embracing the client’s love of colour striking wallpaper was designed and combined with neutral carpet and images by local photographer Nick Cable to create an exciting space with a couple of orange cube stools used to further break up the space.
A service and LED illuminated display slot as a feature behind the existing desk and new POS and signage helps define merchandising and consultation rooms. Some new furniture, cool chairs from Italy, and feature mirrors help round off the overall look and unify the space.
