Open Mental Health
Open for business!
This year saw the launch of ‘Open Mental Health’. A very exciting new community venture. Mental Health organisations from across Somerset have come together to provide 24/7 support to people living with mental health issues. Teapot were lucky enough to be asked to come up with the full concept including the name, design of the new brand and then the ongoing print work. We decided on something very simple but really punchy for the name and the logo.
The word Open has lots of meanings. It represents the opportunity to speak about something you might be struggling with. It’s an open door for people in trouble. Its about being open 24/7 so there is always someone to listen. The stylised speech bubble represents the start of much needed conversations and the open space around the logo is all about the readiness to listen. It is welcoming, warm and simple. In a super positive colour – sunflower yellow.
Initially we did a discovery phase – which included looking at other mental health organisations and charities and also some of our early ideas. We presented this to the alliance and after some discussion it gave us a really positive way forward. Our branding projects are all about collaboration. It’s important for clients to feel included and involved every step of the way.
The graphic design and print work we created for Open Mental Health is going to be displayed in GP surgeries and other businesses so it needs to catch people’s attention from a distance. We used a lot of the sunflower yellow combined with strong black text and simple clear messaging.
