Spotlight on Somerset Business Awards

Teapot Creative have been members of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce for the past 6 years and have found it to be a valuable source of information, training, networking and all round great social activities! We have made friends, won business and found suppliers though the Somerset Chamber of Commerce so, we feel well placed to promote it in this blog.

One of the major undertakings each year for the Chamber, are the Somerset Business Awards. It is no small feat! It takes months and months of preparation and hard work. In fact, no sooner has one award year finished, when the planning and work for the next year starts in earnest.

As Somerset Chamber of Commerce members and avid fans, we were absolutely delighted to be asked to create the new brand for the SBA and design and build the website to promote the awards from 2019. We won Business of the Year in 2016 and we now sponsor the New Business category so we already had a very clear idea of how the awards work and how best to place the brand and help improve its visibility. Click here to view our SBA showcase.

Teapot Creative felt the design for the new brand needed to be modern, clean and corporate but also slightly glamorous at the same time. Quite a way from where it was at that current point in time. We are absolutely delighted with the result and feel incredibly proud when we see it out in the wild doing its job.

This year the Awards ceremony was held in Weston-Super-Mare at The Winter Gardens. It was a gorgeous evening with so many fabulous businesses showcased and promoted. We were so proud to be involved and to see our work on display on the night has to one of our best moments yet.

Here’s Annelise from The Somerset Chamber of Commerce talks about the SBA…

The Somerset Business Awards is the county’s largest annual black-tie awards ceremony and recognises companies across Somerset for exceptional achievements in a range of fields.Categories vary slightly each year, but include awards for the best businesses, Somerset manufacturer, service excellence and for investing in the county. The awards are organised annually by the Somerset Chamber of Commerce and are free for all businesses to enter, not just Chamber members. The awards are a true celebration of everything that is great about business in Somerset and the awards have become an important and popular fixture in the local calendar.

The judging processes is vigorous and independent and the number of entries continues to grow year on year. There is literally something for everyone – from small businesses with under ten staff, to new companies, young employees and charities. The Somerset Business Awards are a fantastic opportunity for businesses to shout about their achievements and tickets for the annual black-tie awards ceremony are always in high demand. As 2019 marks the awards’ 15 th anniversary, the team decided it was time for a completely new look including a new website, new logo and new awards.

Chamber members Teapot Creative have been a valued supporter of the awards for many years, sponsoring a category and judging the entries so they were the natural choice to trust with the rebrand. The Teapot team supported us every step of the way, helping to nurture our ideas for a new logo and then translating that into a theme throughout our new website. That theme carries on through to the actual awards the winners will be presented with on finals night. The inspiration came from the ‘leaf’ which forms part of the Somerset Chamber logo.

We wanted something which reflected the importance of the awards and the glittering awards ceremony itself. The black and gold colours perfectly capture the high-end look we wanted, while the leaf design is being used across all the literature and branding for the awards. The feedback has been fantastic from local businesses and awards sponsors – without whose support the awards simply would not be the huge success that they are each year. The Chamber team is equally proud of the new logo and we’re pleased the awards keep growing in popularity each year.

Established in 1994, the Somerset Chamber works hard to support local businesses and, specifically, our 500 strong network of member businesses covering all industry sectors from sole-traders to multi-national corporations.  Combined with local Town Chambers, the Somerset Chamber represents over 2,000 businesses across Somerset. Somerset Chamber is one of only 53 Chambers accredited to the British Chambers of Commerce, which represents over 100,000 businesses in the UK. It is the only truly independent UK business support organisation which has local representation, credibility in the eyes of the Government and the media and is consulted at all levels by Government.

We organise over 70 events each year of varying scale and size to support and inform business and strengthen supply chains. We take on issues that affect the whole business community and lobby at all levels of policy decision making. We also encourage international trade by working
