We are very pleased to announce that the first ever ‘Teapot Creative Young Designer Competition’ is taking place this year. Entries from Somerset based 6th form and higher education students are welcome until 4:30pm on 10th May. A finalist’s ceremony and the prize giving will be held on 9th June at Wellington School.
Invitations to take part in the competition have been sent out to every further education college and school with a 6th form department across Somerset. The challenge we have set the students is to design an eye catching promotional poster to be used in a ‘real life’ campaign by one of two local charities. The winning design from each of the two categories (6th form and higher education students) will be used in a promotional campaign by Hestercombe Gardens and School In A Bag. A selection of other prizes will be awarded to the winners, runners up and finalists.
Teapot are excited to be running the competition and are very grateful to have our client and main competition sponsor Wellington School alongside us. Ultimately, we hope that as well as providing the students with an interesting extra curricular design challenge, the competition will add another element to their design portfolio and give entrants a taste of fulfilling a ‘real life’ design brief.
A further goal is to help build stronger links between Somerset’s education sector and the design sector. This last point is a particularly important goal of ours for as an agency we have tried hard over the last few years to give young web and graphic designers a helping hand onto the career ladder (apprentices, undergraduate sandwich year interns and graduates).
